A Little Patch of Blue: A Glimpse

“Is it around 6 AM now?”

“It’s hard to say. This place seems to be out of time itself.”

“I know that. This city is a lot like a parallel to Brigadoon. It only reveals itself to outsiders every once a year; always around the time of an Indian Summer.”

“Brigadoon?”

“Heh, I should have expected that you two have no idea what that city is. According to legend, the residents had a covenant with God. No one that awakens from the city may ever leave, or creed would be broken and everything in the city would disappear into the mist; never to be seen again.”

An image of a young woman traveling by covered wagon was talking to two Mahoreopmec style weapons were floating around in Evangeline’s dream world. The young angel could barely make out the voice’s face nor what the traveler was wearing. The only thing that really was in focus was the head of a man wearing a war bonnet on her motorbike. It was a rather curious article. Evangeline was tempted to call out to the Sage but something distracted her.

Benjamin knocked at her door.

Little did the child know, this traveler would be an important change for both Benjamin and herself before the week was through…

Just then there was a light tap on her door, then she heard a gentle voice on the other side. It was her best friend Benjamin. Slowly rubbing her eyes, the young angel opened her door every so slightly. As soon as Benjamin could got a full view of the span that Evangeline called home, he was astonished to see a large painting done by Valarie. It was much more impressive than the one down in the dining hall of the Inn.

It was full of intense earth tone colors, bright shades of tans, browns, sienna, khakis, and reds. From what he could make out, it was of the city, seen from above. It was almost as if Val had flown over the city to show just how tranquil it really is.

“Why, hello Mr. Benjamin!” The little angel then run out and hugged her friend. “Ree! What did you want? I’m all wings and ears.” She then scratched her forehead, “Is that how that phrase goes? Ooops, I’m all eyes and ears. Well, I guess that they would be at attention as well.” Evangeline’s wings seemed to flap in understanding. She then stared at Benjamin, awaiting what he would say next. However, at the back of her mind, Evangeline was more curious about who the traveler with the Mahoreopmec weapons was.

The traveler continued on her way through the city, the chadar that cover her body, made her look more like a wandering gypsy than it did as a trader.

“Elizabeth, why do you wear that silly shawl?”

“It is the custom of this land that Außenstehende, not reveal what they look like.”

“It seems rather pointless, they will know that you are a human, no matter what.”

“Well, Mukwa, we are not to question the customs of these people. We are only staying here for less than three days. It is not like we will encounter much here. Besides, you always bring up the same issues every time we come here.”

“Elizabeth, why is it that you come here?”

“Mukwa, do not insult the honor of our handler. If we are to maintain balance, we must respect her ideals. For without Elizabeth, we would be nothing more than handsome paperweights, to be left hanging on the walls of a home.”

“Jacobin, it is okay. I’m used to his questions, it proves that he is interested in where we are going.”

“Then enlighten me, Elizabeth.”

“Mukwa, it’s hard to say why, but I feel like this place feels like the last innocent place on Earth. It is like a home away from home…”

“I understand what Miss Eliza means, dear Mukwa. This place has the smell of our old homeland. It is almost like there is a gentle presence here calling to us.”

“Well, I wouldn’t be surprised Jacobin. They say that one of the former queens of our people lives here.”

With that the Sage into the center of the town…

Meanwhile, Geneva could tell that the knight was embarrassed that his queen had asked him to share a bed. Back in their childhood, Geneva knew that Zach had always joked with his fellow soldiers that he would one day share the same room as Geneva. Well, he was here now, so he could get all of his bragging rights. Geneva rolled her eyes at the very thought of Zach, in his more youthful days.

It was a well known fact that he always had a deep respect, one could almost say a brotherly bond with Geneva. All of her siblings had died in the long forgotten wars and he was the son of a general. Such are in the classic stories of romance, they formed a friendship that would last all time. However, when the wars were brought close to home, the queen had enough. She simply faded away to this little town, leaving everything behind. Even her friendship with Zach. Last she heard, the wars ended a few weeks after her departure.

“What does the past mean to those that can no longer or choose not to remember it?”

The former queen kept her back to Zach, knowing that he was probably a big nervous wreck. She then turned to face her old guard, his face was nearly pink, which nearly made Geneva giggle. With the way that things were currently going, she would have to make the first move.

“Well, I must admit. This is rather unorthodox. For the both of us. Then again, I can always go to Evangeline’s spare bed. I am not overly big for it. Just let me know, I have no issue with it. I really don’t mind it.”

Then, if maybe then, the crossed destinies between these two would start to make more sense than every before…

Okay, so I shall post some of my baby ideas for this upcoming comic. After roaming around Lake Park dressed as a Russian Partisan (Don't ask why) and scaring a few bird watchers I have my assorted photographs for the comic. She'll be a hybrid of photos and drawings, since I'm in the mood to do some mixed media.

I'm going to post URLs of the first two pages since they are of a large size, made to fit the average size of a mango (For non-intertoobers, aka manga) comics from Japan.

Page One. Take of the sudden color changes. This'll show up fairly often.

Page Two. I changed the panels to a grey green color. I liked the weathered looks of this court yard over by the Alumni House because it kind of looks like ruins.

No worries, you'll meet the main characters on page 3, I just like starting things off with first person because it helps set mood.

Daiki: Yokai Taijiya

So here I am once again writing about a comic in the works, and for those of you that have been following me before I started with my college class you'll actually see me doing work for once. Scary, I know.

What is Daiki: Yokai Taijiya?

The concept is very simple, indeed. It start it's life over on Iwaku as a means of wasting time with a friend that I run RPs with. Now roughly two weeks later, it is a concept I'm going to stick with for a while. The storyline is still in the works but it can be accessed here. I am not going to say it is a very original idea but let's face it the concept of demon slayers is a popular one, through in some Greek and Japanese mythology and you'll get somewhere I hope.

For the comic, I want to establish a "gothic" or "grim" kind of feeling since the plotline itself is a mix of humor and general Tim Burton level creepiness.

Here is the first page for the assignment. The background is a part of Old Main near the VA Center. I messed around with lighting and graphic design to make it look more ominous than it is in real life. Next, I stressed the fact the world of Daiki looks like someone twisted parts of it, which can be seen in this sample.

For those of you unfortunate to remember Perfect Cherry from 2007-8, it is being brought back from the graveyard of plotlands. This time around, there'll be a plot and stuff.

The basic concept was formed from my dislike of a certain animu series called Strawberry Panic. If you have never seen the show, all my rants can be accessed here. (If you are easily offended, you may wish to opt out) To make a long story short, I grew to dislike the series after awhile. So I decided to make fun of it using my own brand of eccentricities. Sadly, I only got around to making 5 comics since I had switched my attention Evangeline.

So plotline you ask? Well,you'll just have to wait and see. :D

Yeah, I like Eastern European/Balkans music.

If you're not familiar with the Balkans, here's a fun experiment that'll give you a quick education. Go to YouTube, and find any video from the region (Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, etc). Scroll down to the comments and lay witness to the terrifying spectacle of violent, unrestrained trolling/butthurt that is the Balkans.

This one is a remake of a classic pro-Tito song from a Croatian in the 1980s following shortly after the dictator's death in 1980. Roughly translated, it's something along the lines of telling the youth to uphold the ideals of nation unity.

Iwaku has an Error 500

So you're getting an Internal Server Error? We all are.

What this means is that the server encountered an internal error and can't load the page.

Generally, you'll get a message like this:

Posting a quick update on making the comic for class on Monday. I had originally intended to make light of some of the things on my family including stuff that happened with my great-grandfather. However, I just found out yesterday that he had passed away in his sleep at the age of 92. I didn't think it was right to make a parody of him at this time; so I scrapped that idea and went with some shorts that all interconnect in some shape or form. That's all I have for now.

Understanding Comics

Hello to all the 240ers of UWM.

Today we are reviewing Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. Over all, I thought the graphic novel was a good attempt to explain the complex roles that make up what a comic is. The only thing that got annoying after awhile was the amount of detail he focused on in Chap Two from page 29 to 50 talking about the icon on the face. While I did find humorous that he called humans self centered in seeing ourselves in objects that our faces are not present, I think he focused a little too much on explaining why we see things this way. It seemed he like he was trying to be a little too metaphysical. I did find it interesting on page 131, where me mentioned that manga has had years to develop by itself without being influenced too much by Western media. I have to disagree somewhat these days because his book was written about twenty years ago. Although still faster paced than most American comics are, more and more Western themes have been seeping in, as well as the fact a lot of US comics are trying to copy artistic styles. Finally, I loved his statement that art is anything that isn't used for survival or reproduction via the cavemen on pages 164-66. It was a good visual aid to making his arguments make more sense.

This imagine was drawn by Rin over on the forum. I just "clean it up" using photoshop by making the drawing darker and a made it appear like it was done in pen vs. pencil.

The next image was colored in by Creative using my color scheme suggestions. I love how she's turned out so far.

The Personality Cult of Putin

Since I come from Eastern Europe, I try to pay special attention to the affairs of the former Eastern Bloc nations and Russia. It is interesting to note that roughly translated into English the two women are more or less suggesting that they wish more Slavic males were like Putin. If anyone has paid close enough attention to the politician, he seems to fancy himself as a cult leader. Since its been roughly 20 years since we saw the downfall of the Soviet Union, the youth of Russia seem to long for an era of political power and dominance. As the video shows, Putin does a lot of physical activity to make him seem youthful and powerful. While I do not trust his political power, especially since he was a member of the Soviet's secret police, it is interesting to note how for the past decade he has made the nation more stable than it has been since the Czars.

Plus the song has a nice melody.

Hello to everyone in UWM's Rhetoric, Writing, and Culture 240.

As you can see I've had this blog awhile but since postings have been slow, I'm going to use it for class as well.

Since Andy mentioned on his blog that we had a tension between what a comic, graphic novel, and comic strip all are I think I'll post my POV on the subject. To mean a comic is a monthly serial that focuses on a short plot line that can focus on board number of subplots and characters. A graphic novel is more of a formal storyline that is contained in a single volume. Finally a comic strip is something you see in a newspaper or magazine. Of course, these are vague definitions and are by no means what everyone else should feel on the matter.

Anyways, I hope to interact with ya'll more over the semester.

And since we talked about the Watchmen in class, here's something that may or may not be related:

I suppose it's time for a post.

On the geek front, nothings really been happening. My RP, "Drama Camp" has really taken off. ^_^ I'm super happy about that. I was a little nervous about it being my first RP, but people really seem to be getting into it.

I'm currently working on a novel for NaNoMo. Actually...I'm in the middle of two. haha I'm still trying to figure out which one I want to roll with. One is about a geeky group of friends and their odd adventures. The other is about a guy from Jersey who has moved to a small town, and he's the only guy in the school's choir. ^_^ I do like the Choir one, but I'm a little stuck on it. I backed myself into a hole, but I think I may be able to get out. lol

So, lately, I've been thinking about like...Nesting. And It's weird. >_< Like...I'm a geeky, just out of high school girl who doesn't have a job and needs to look at collages. But for some reason I'm thinking about marriage and my own place. Maybe it's because I'm probably going to be moving out and in with my brother within the next few months. ^_^ I'm pretty excited. Can't wait to get a job though. lol I'm applying to a bunch of places. I really want to work at Game Stop. ^_^

So, I had a pretty good time, I think. I'll go through the whole weekend.

Friday: This was actually a pretty fun day! I got there kinda late, around 6, and was hanging out with a friend I haven't seen in a while because of collage. The friends I was staying with weren't getting there till about 8. All of a sudden I get, "ZOMG We need more peoples for the Steampunk fashion show!!!" So, I'm like..."Hellz yeah. another chance to show off my outfit." So, I ran to get my steampunk stuff from my friend's car then, changed in the bathroom quick. Luckily, I found a pic with me displaying my box!

You can't really see it, but I'm wearing totally kickass boots. lol Anyway, after the fashion show, we went and walked down state street in steampunk looking for food. That was pretty fun. haha

Saturday: Hmm...Saturday was actually kinda blah for a con. There weren't really any good panels, to be honest. Me and my friend Chris tried doing the Steam Century mystery.

But, honestly, what they gave us to start with didn't give us much initiative or motivation to continue. Anyway, after we got our Mystery stuff, we decided to take a run to Walgreens for stuff that the 8 people in our room forgot. (They even told us to pick up condoms. >_<) In any case, we ended up getting lost in mad city for an hour and a half. When we got back, everyone wanted food, so a bunch of us headed out again to go get Chipotle. On state street again. In steampunk attire. ^_^ We came back (not getting lost this time) and ate our burritos while watching Dr. Horrible. There was much singing. haha After eating we went swimming and hit a few room parties before heading down to Geek Jeopardy and the fandubs.

Sunday: This may actually have been the most interesting day of the weekend. haha. Sadly, I don't have a picture of my hardcore motorcycle-loli. v_v But anyway, we started out the day in the game room playing blockus and fluxx then went to this awesome voice acting panel. I got to read Sakura from Naruto. I had the high-pitched, whiny, annoying voice down pat. lol After the panel, we went and watched some anime, Revolutionary Girl (a kinda softcore yuri with some bishonen guys.), and Ouran High School Host Club (Full of everything a fan girl could wish for, Bishonen, Yaoi, Loli,...I could go on and on.). After that we decided to leave.

So, that was Geek.kon from my perspective. ^_^ I would totally go again, simply because of the history I have with the con, and that they're always trying to improve and make things better. Every con is kinda like a test anyway, right? haha

Third Death from Sweat Lodge Ceremony Led by James Arthur Ray

People like Mr. Ray make me livid because this so-called "guru" is going to cause a blacklash against people that do attend sweat lodges. As a Metis, what this man did is also an insult to people whom follow the Red Road. By no means can a guru charge people $10,000 to attend a spiritual place when all are free. For those of you that aren't familiar with Native American spiritualism, a sweat lodge is a means of self purification just like how the Jews have ritual wells and Christians have confession. As well, in order to even run one of this you have to be a humble person like a Piper carrier. It is important to remember pipe carriers are more or less people that have been knocked around by life and have become humble, they should not be "gurus" that have massive egos. As well, why the hell would you make a lodge out of plastic? Real ones are covered by blankets and other hardy materials that withstand the heat. In my honest opinion, he only cares about the money and not the people that look up to him. This is a sin and I hope he gets dealt a strong punishment by the law.

So, for me, It's that time of year once again. Time for one of my favorite cons of WI, Geek.kon. It was my first convention that I cosplayed at. No joke. Lucky for me, it was their first year too. Here's a pic from that first year:

That's me and my friend Maddie. We were both cosplaying Misa Amane from Death Note. That first year was super fun. We met our friend Josh there who was cosplaying as L and we ended up stalking him for a day before we finally decided to ask him if he would join us. haha

Moving on to last year, I was very happy. We had a panel, and we participated in the cosplay contest. Here's a pic from that:

I was Chii from Chobits and won Best Commissioned Costume. (Because my mom made it) I had a lot of fun and I'm totally excited for this year.
I'm a bit sad though. Because Geek.kon isn't at the campus this year, I can't walk on down to Chipotle and get a burrito!!! v_v

So that's my two cents. I'll have pics up when I get back. ^_^

Ethnix

I had intended to talk about my friend Kris' band but I can't find their myspace page anymore, so I'll talk about Ethnix for now. I am the type of person that loves music from all over the world and though predictable the Mediterranean nations have the music I like the most. Ethnix is a band out of Israel and while my Hebrew needs a refresher badly, the music itself is interesting in the fact that many of them with important political events of the modern era. It doesn't just focus on bums over dosing and lolromance that American pop has evolved into for the main stream. Of course being an Israeli band, I doubt that they'll make a great impact around here but I hope you can at least enough the melodies like do.

So...I get kinda ticked off by the weirdest things. I suppose I have acute OCD. It comes with having Arachnophobia. For example, right now, I felt that I needed to do a post about how the visitor tracker in the sidebar of this blog keeps saying that I'm from Oconomowac. I am NOT from there. I shall even show you a map. (You may need to zoom in)

I'm from Edgerton. The southern most blue thing. Oconomowac is the Eastern most blue thing, and Madison is the Western most blue thing. As you can see, I am MUCH closer to Madison. And it's a bigger city! Not that I don't like Oconomowac. It's a very nice city. I just dislike the fact that I'm not properly represented.

Minooka Afterpost

So...All and all, this weekend was...Okay.
Not much drama...somewhat. But I'll get to that later. The main thing is that it was freezing. Like, frost on Sunday morning freezing. Now, my entire family is sick, except for my brother for some reason. >_<

So, anyway to the Drama portion of this segment. I'm pretty much a part of the US Navy group because of Josh and Rory and Sam and...you get the picture. They're having an issue with the Timekeepers, another group that I think Rory and Sam are also a part of? I dunno. Point is, I'm staying out of this whole thing between the two groups. My mother of course, went in headfirst. I guess a rumor has been started that I am sleeping with not only Rory's dad, but Rory, Sam, and BRUCE. Now, I find this absolutely hilarious, as does most people who hear the rumor. Josh, however, is ready to go on a killing spree once he finds out whoever said it.

Russia Always has Cool Reenactments

I've always had a liking for doing little known about conflicts outside of Europe. This soldier here is a Russian during the 1850s Crimean War. Figures Russia would have someone making a uniform for reenactors already. Which means I'm going to have to save up for a great coat and a green flat hat. Since I reenact as an Austrian during the Napoleonic era, I have half the impression right there including the musket since reserve units were almost always given flintlocks.

Okay, so I rarely will complain about politics on the internet because we all know blogs are just diaries for grown-ups more than anything serious. To be honest, I'm sick of hearing about how Obama is some kind of anti-Christ and is out to like rap3 people's minds. It's getting annoying, so he won the Nobel Peace Prize... Do I care? Do you really care? Well, you might but I don't. If the Commission felt like he deserved it than big whoopie. Granted, I'm more an aware of the fact that those "lolliberals" bashed Bush for every little mistake he made, since when does coming full circle make you any better than the previous set of complainers? Do I really expect rapid change in less than a year, no not really.

If we really want big change, we should vote for giant robots. Yes, giant robots. Sure, they might end up enslaving mankind or something... But hell, we'd no longer have to think about stuff... And it'd give us an excuse to use all the firearms that we horde. See, win win.

So, It's Patty and this is my first post. O_O Time to say whats on my odd, fraked up mind.

For one, what I am currently listening to. I have a Zune named Delilah and therefore I am cooler and nonconformist unlike you iPod users. Zune Software just came out with this app that makes playlists for you from your library by giving the app a artist. This is a pretty fraking AWESOME app. One issue. I listen to a lot of different music but one of my current favorites is Owl City, who if you don't know is a bit like a Death Cab for Cutie-Hellogoodbye love child. I had the app make me a playlist, and yeah, I got DCFC, HG, Postal Service, and Mayday Parade. But THEN. I look down the list and see 3OH3. Yeah. A rap group is invading in on my emo music.
But I've forgiven it. I'm sure it can't be exactly right. It's only technology. ^_-

Well, right now I'm busy waiting to go to a Civil War event in Minooka, IL. Even though it's the last event of the year, I really have no vested interest in it because neither Josh nor Rory are going. *Glares at Rory* So, all I have to look forward to is sitting around in camp, listening to my mom bitch about the Timekeepers. Yeah, I know another 15 month wait inbetween posts. Can't say there's much happening in the means of new plots. The biggest down side to the Iwaku server crash is that I'll have to create more things from the very beinging, oh darn. Like always, I intend to add more things to Sword of Embera: Archon Sisters. I doubt that I am going make it into another massive RP project like it was about a year ago, only because bringing in that much non-canon stuff would make my head spin. Anyways, if you log on Iwaku, there is a new plot called Sword of Embera: Jani's Tale. It takes place in a different time and era in Embera history, so hopefully it'll be fun.

Wonderland

In the three odds months that it has been in limbo, it seems that I have several people on Iwaku pressing me to being Aeons back. So what does that mean? I never thought I'd actually ever go to an anime convention in my life. Yeah, I am a nerd and anime certainly falls into that 'sterotype' well. It was held at UWM a little more than a week ago in the Union. I went in 1870s British stuff, mostly because you'd think at least one person would have seen the cult classic Zulu, I guess not. Plus I didn't feel like actually attempting to do any cosplaying at the time.

So what was it like? Off the bat, it was interesting. It is easy to make fun of people doing eccentric things, and reenacting and cosplaying certainly are. The event was fairly small and it could probably have used some more signs saying when events and locales where. Yeah, they have a website but that was only a minor setback.

Anyways, the cosplaying contest was neat. I like the amount of details people put into what they wore. A lot of Caramelldansen. I personally liked the person dressed up as the Yu-Gi-Oh Card.

Yeah, I like to complain about anime... Because I like to rant about pointless things that will piss fanboys off; which makes me laugh since I forced them to read my blog. Yay, more traffic. Anyways, as I said in 2008 SP has come home to the US. My opinions of the show haven't really changed too much thus by watching parts of in English. Downside, same old annoying squeaky voices for 'cute' characters, etc. I mean either way, it follows the cheesy soap opera like mentality it had back in Japan.

However, in this age of political correctness, I'm guessing any sort of press with cartoons about lesbians or bi-sexuals is a good thing because looking at the back of the DVD boxes are lulzie. I 'almost' would get the view that this show is a step forward in LGST rights. Which it hardly is. I mean seriously, did they not watch the series at all before making these reviews. Sure, it is not the worst yuri animu out there but it lacks anything I would consider profound for progress.

As I have said this sort of view makes for great humor, especially with an anime of this nature.

A reasonable question. Main reason I cancelled the plotline on Iwaku was due to two main issues: 1.) Too many characters and 2.) Didn't go off as well as I wanted it to. Of course, I am not going to blame my fellow co-authors; however, I am seeking to try and make a few short stories based on the events proposed between Palonis and myself. I am going to try it for my Creative Writing course since my professor is willing to read ~~crap~~ I write for stories. Personally, I want this to be a chance to break away from my normal plot devices and create more believable characters and a more solid plot.

So I am lazy with updating this thing lately, why? Eh, I focus my real writing elsewhere. Now that's not to say that writing down whatever comes to my mind here is a waste of time... Eh, whom are we kidding, blogs are more or less a big and easy way of complaining about the world and pretending people actually care. Lol. don't I sound thrilled. Anyways, random thought of the day or words of advice? Not much, it is cold out and I keep buying WW2 era uniforms and gear because it is easy enough to find.

I'm currently working on doing all 4 Scandinavian nations, Swedish and Finnish being more or less done. Danish and Norwegian are still in the works, the latter being harder to finish up because their tunics and field caps don't exactly follow the 'standard' of the era.

As well, I just bought a Danish helmet from IMA, I guess that is something to look forward too since the thing cost me 44 dollars compared the normal $250 odd dollars that they normally cost on Ebay.

Ebay is a very annoying place at times. I mean people assume because of shows that everything that is older than 25 years is worth a lot. Hate to say it but in Europe antiques are anything that is older than Victorian. Well military gear is another story. Anyways, that is my 15 mins worth of idle blabber. Yay~!

The biggest problem, I see these days is that since we are living a better life on Earth these days, the ascept of it in the next life seems, well pointless.
People no longer want to listen to way they are evil.The religious authority are stuck in the past. The people are willing to change, then so should the big dogs. But then the issue is that people get so self absorbed in their own worlds, that when things go wrong, they blame God. It is not that God abandoned them, it is that they abandoned God.To me, it is important that you believe in something more.
Whether it is God, Allah, Bob Dole, or Paorou Sama.

what it really boils down to is that Humans are the ones that need to change, not "God." God is timeless, beyond our understandings. It is the mystery that created us.

Next,remember it is what you think that matters the most. No one will ever have the same view point on God. Fundamentally, all religious teach us that we must be good people and that there are many ways to follow this road. In a recent study by Time-Life, there was a poll that said that 73% of all the Christians interviewed believed that their was more than road to salavation. That is impressive, even though such polls are never truly the truth....

Okay, so I got inspired to do another short comic series, starting Battle Maid Mandy. The idea is still short and random as hell, so I don't know how well it will go over. I'll admit, the basic idea is nothing that impressive. Basically, centers on a friend from Iwaku named Mandy; along with her twisted sense of humor and things of that nature. So far it seems that her speical powers include summoning any type of weapon from under her maid outfit. Kinky, ain't it? I would like this Doujin to mock the whole genera of Shoujo characters like Sailor Moon and of course harash fans of said shoujos. I doubt that it will have any original ideas but, most doujins don't. lol.

In summary: Since I lost interest in doing my short lived Perfect Cherry, this might be an excuse to get my hand back into the game of doing webcomics.

Embera Project's Growth

There are always things that make you wonder will happen next. As ‘Chaos’ on his blog, mentioned Embera Project has evolved into a bigger plot line in which the standard themes of Fantasy are going to be given a few new twists to make things a little more entertaining and hopefully will help stress things that I’ve been working on for the past 7 years of my life on.

What exactly is the Embera Project? It basically started out life as a small time film and photography business I co-run with my friend ‘Adam.’ Well that was back in high school and unfortunately the only film we ever did finish was a retarded one called Reign of Heroes. If I really fell like it, then that’ll be the name of one of the chapters for the new mass RP. I then joined forces with Laura to then create Leaving Serenity, which was the real foundation for what would evolve into the IFT universe as I like to dub it.

So let’s see, that means that the more current plot started around in 2005. There are a lot of fundamental differences though. First off, Rory and a few of the key main characters have been moved to the Wonderland! Series. However, the characters that are considered to be the living Goddesses have been transferred to the IFT universe. The original concept was that there were two, one for positive, one for negative, to create a balance. Then I was like, you know.. Gods are a pain in the butt to have interfering in a more modern style of a fantasy world, so I turned them into mortals and viola! A better change. Originally, I also had an idea for using gates, but then that idea got pushed aside rather quickly, as did the need for a character that liked to mess around with one of the Goddesses’ minds.

Now, what do I expect to change for the overall plot? Honestly, I am not 100% sure. I’ve transferred a few of my original characters to other, to see if they can put a new flame into them. This is not to say, I don’t like my characters but more so that they needed a re-stroking. Proves how much I follow my copyright from time to time. Lol. Anyways, that’s enough out of me for now.

New Plot!

Yes that is correct, I have a new Wonderland! Project themed plot in the works. This time around it is called Hard Boiled Dreamland, another Doujin - Fanwork based on the author of Wind Up Bird Cronicles. Dreamland will focus on mainly on Westy as the heroine with a whole new set of characters in a small village with a history of its own far away from the walled city in Wonderland. A newer concept will be the Shades, a double worlded version of the main characters and the concept of a "soul" over the Angelic beings centralized in the other plot. I'm looking forward to see how this shall work out.

Well, let's see here. I've been too lazy to watch a whole lot of anime lately. Not saying, that it is that important to me but you know, a man's got to do, what a man's got to do. From the words of my epic ally Stabbage, "THERE'S NOTHING NEW OUT THERE." I have to admit, that for the past few series I've watched its been a lot of the same old harem plots lately. Coming from a person that tries to read/watch this stuff, IT GETS BORING AFTER AWHILE. I mean there's only so much you can really effectively do with the same tri force of the shy 'tard, the Uberbitch, and the drunkie... IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY FOR DEARS AND LOVE HINA. Granted, Love Hina was epic back in 2002, when it was one of the first bigger hits around. lol... Anyways, I think that I'll go back to watching Strawberry Panic for the lulz.

Inverted Fairy Tale

Once again, I find myself talking about this plot. As a few of my readers will know, I've been working on various versions of this world for nearly six years now; which is amazing to see how much it has changed over the course of time. Evolving from a basic plot to something much more complexed and it has had at least four different co authors, though I have to admit that Chaos has been the best one so far because he's stuck to it since Sept. of 2007. Anyways, it seems that the Twilight tribe is once again going to be the most important, which has changed from the Cosmos since I started the plot. I actually kind of like using the "darker" of the all nymphian tribes, because generally dark tends to equal evil which it is not in this case. :D

Interlude

Time for another pointless anime review! Because we all know that my opinions really matter! I watched this OAV called Interlude last night and decided that I might as well review it.

To quote the back of the DVD:

“In Japan, there is a disturbing rumor being spread that people's shadows are ripping from their bodies, never to be seen again. For one young man, the frightening nature of this rumor is just beginning to manifest in the form of a nightmarish world that he can't seem to escape from. In this place full of dark minions and demons, he and his friends fight futilely against unknown enemies, only to be brought back to the "real world" as quickly as they left it. Is this real, or a dream? Only one person holds the key to destroying and saving the world as he knows it...

After reading the summary, I thought the plot sounded like it was interesting enough. From the looks of it, I wasn’t expecting anything that grand. Of course, when the OAV started off, it is your general harem like atmosphere. I personally found the main character‘s, He, girlfriend to be the most annoying character of the entire show. I’m sorry but the I’m trying to be cute child like character but apparently a teenager is over used and the fact that she speaks in the third person was like shit I wasted 14 bucks on this…
I was telling myself, Tama shut the hell up. Lol.

The basic over all plot is this: The nameless annoying hero has strange dreams, leads a very normal life with childhood friends and younger sister with an-agenda-of-his-own elder brother, meets up with Mystery lonely girl.

Heh, pretty much the same old, same theme that you see in animes but as the story progressed, the surrealism of the series got a little more interesting. Of course, the ever silent lonely girl that fights demons theme was there. I really liked the yellow eyes of Aya and the fact that she battled said demons with archery was a plus. She’s really the only female character of the cast that was interesting. Of course, they threw in a few ecchi scenes with Tama running into the abnormally big breasted officer worker type. I’m not a big of fan service characters, so the officer worker was more or less only there for the lulz because she is a total dumb ass.

The best part of the entire series besides Aya was the random monster hunter that went around groping said office worker and his last stand against too fat monsters that are never really explained. This is where the series is the most flawed. Since Interlude was one of those eroge games, they attempted to stuff all the plots into three episodes, and a lot of them are pointless and easily forgetful. The thing that I dislike the most was that a lot of the girls only served for overused and rather stupid fan service scenes.

I found the ending of the series somewhat interesting, due to the fact that we find out that the original reality of our world has been shattered by a girl with psychic powers and reality is OMGWFTBBQ. So for my overall opinion of the anime; it had potential. However, they tried to stuff way too much into three 40 min episodes and that made the plot confusing and trying to explain things off in 15 mins near the end was a little annoying but I still understood what was going on. So take it for what it is worth, an OAV that probably would have a better potential for being a series than a hour and a half movie. It’s not the greatest thing I’ve seen but it is not the worst either.

Oh and do yourself a favor, skip over the main theme at all costs. Whatever little girl they found to sing this should have her mouth taped shut. O.O; It was annoying after a while….

Of Angels and War...

So it seem that once again, I am putting greater focus on the Mahoreompec. I guess since the Emerald Machine had to be put on hold for the time being that I am starting to put more interest into angelic type beings that fight more with Wonderland once again. As well, since I am using my version of Rory within the whole Iwaku War, that it has sparked my interest again. The only thing that I really should try to do again is getting back to the Evangeline webcomic. The plus side is that I have a better organized plot and things of that nature that should make things flow better than adding all the complex issues of World War Two in the Balkans. Although neat, it didn't make a whole lot of sense.

As for the Knight... He just looks cool.

Well, there are things that always get me... This time around, it is bringing back a character that hasn't really seen the light of day in nearly two years. Although originally created for a really noob like RP on Megatokyo's forums, I thought hey this gals is epic win and placed her in a really main stream fantasy 'novel.' Now, that I've gotten better as an author, I decided to try a new idea with the character. Granted the idea of demon slayers is older than time itself, I've decided to take a mix of the ones that you see in popular culture and attempt to view said character in a new twist. I'm going to be staying away from killing demons as a personal vendetta, and put more focus on the hidden idealisms behind her action. I'm all for character emotions and interacts with others. ;)

Jason, Medea ideas, etc.

Well, I've gotten a few questions about what is going to happen with the plot and more so, where did I get my ideas for characters. In reality, I never consider my characters to be original or even that speical in the grand scheme of things. For example, I love the story of Jason and Medea. I've found that Medea is always presented as an evil insane witch that killed her childern out of spite and rarely is Jason ever seen as anything but an epic hero. In the grand scheme of things, I took ideas that I encountered over the many times that I've read The Medea.
To me, the witch is confused about herself and if she can love someone that doesn't love her back. Thusly, with my character of Medea, I've put a lot of focus on her own concerns about who she really is and if her interactions with others is the best that she can come up with. My version of Jason is based on the legendary man's cunning to use others to gain his intentions. Although they never form a relationship in the plot, it is fun to see them in a new form of conflict.

Evangeline Revamp

This will hopefully make the comic easier to follow and less of a confusing little fanfic like piece. We have more than enough characters to have a stable plotline. Granted, I'll be dropping a few characters that only made a brief appearance in the early days of the plotline started by Aki and few others that have dropped off the face of the Earth. Sickness, Blahhhhhhh!

So today marks the end of an over all annoying and somewhat interesting week. Monday started off fairly normal, nothing too exiticing. Got Two A's on two seperete tests, so I was happy. Tuesday, I wander around downtown Waukesha with Gracie, wee. Then, it struck. The Flu kept me bed ridden from 4 PM that night until Friday afternoon. As anyone can guess, sitting on your butt for that long is neither fun nor is it that great. There were times that it reached peaks and then I felt better. Then to make matters odder, I went to my campus on Friday to email an assignment. Well when I got to the Bus Terminal in the downtown area of Waukesha, the 10: 20 bus left while I used the bathroom and then the same thing happened at 11:30. So I missed two buses, so I went around the city bored and picking up a few small items for myself. Was late for class and then my tutor never showed up....Then I called it a day and went to some book stores and got a few books that I haven't been able to find elsewhere.

Medea and Sky

I rarely talk about my characters to others outside of discussions with my fellow co author, Justin. So, last night we were making comments about how my character of Medea has changed a lot over the course of the now nearly six months that she has been around. And what really struck us the most, is how by creating an alternative loop in the story, that she and Sky end up together. I will not be giving too much away about what will happen, but it's interesting to see how they interact on a much better level than with that of Gracie. Maybe it is because of the fact that we've put much more focus on Medea, due to the fact that she has a darker past than her sister and her motativations are much more complex on the same level. Secondly, Medea seems to have more of a certian level of humanness to her, than Gracie does. So all and all, I doubt that we'll change the current plot too much. But it might mean that the authors have a different liking of characters than the readers.

Yuri and Her Confusion, or A Stupid Belated Val's Day thing.

So I like know this Japanese chick named Yuri, which means Flower. So she was like why does everyone say my name when they talk about girl on girl stuff.

I was like, "How should I know?"

Then she said, "Well you read the stuff."

I then retorted, "That is an urban legend! The only yuri I've ever read was Strawberry Panic and it was for the Lulz."

She then rolled her eyes, and said something in Japanese that I'm too lazy to try and remember.

So I swore in Polish and then we both agreed that Amane is annoying.

I take that back, we ARE distracted by the real fact that I think tonight is simply a case of the V-Day blahs. I don't care about it. I doubt that you do. Well maybe, but I still don't. Anyways, this day goes out to all of you fangirls and your love of yuri. I think, Simmie still hasn't sent me the memo to tell me if this is true or not. And Yuri, change your name when you get the chance. It's the only way to save your way of life.

Character Design: Creating the "Good Guy"

By a is a person that is the main character of the story most of the time. This short article will be about what you can do to make them more memorable. Remember, just like for the antagonist, the whole clichéd and the whole “necessary” good leaves you with an unmemorable, 2D figure. This is a list of what one should take into account about trying to create a protagonist that isn’t your anime or cartoon super hero:

*A memorable protagonist will of course be funny, charming, polite, strong, forth right, strong, honest, capable and coordinated. Although everyone loves a story with a sensitive caring regular guy as hero, it’s generally the dark type appeals to a wider target zone. However avoid doing the ever popular "I don't give a shit" attitude. Your character is human and all humans have feelings and emotions.

*They start off as a someone that is in over their heads because they have no idea what they are doing. However, over time take time to make them mature. The biggest issues with shows like Pokemon or other animes is that the main character always has and always will be a moron. Their journeys across the pages or posts that you read are what draws the reader into them. If they stay the same for too long it is a long and dragged out affair of nothingness.

*Most importantly the heroes must be a symbol for something. Batman is pretty much a symbol of how someone can take revenge but then over turn their own pride and be out there to help.

*Must be easy to relate to. You can’t just have someone or something that wants to save the day because they can. They need a unique reason behind their actions and why they do what they do. They should be flawed and hard to take serious most of the time, but still somehow pulls things off. The ones you feel like rooting for. Jason from the Greek legends is a good example of this, he is seriously flawed and is really a hard dude to get along with due to the fact that he uses other people to accomplish his dreams, whether it is Hercules or Medea.

*Remember, one group’s heroes are often another group’s villains, example, Christopher Columbus, celebrated by Europeans and reviled by the earlier invaders of America. Medea is often considered a villain by the Greeks, yet in her homeland of Colchis she is considered a hero that brought the Western world back with her.

*Has a combination of talent and direction and of course some inspiration and determination to keep them going. More than that, it's the ability to communicate their desires to the people they are trying to help, or trying to get to help them.

* Let’s not leave out intense sexuality. One factor making these people heroic and sexy is their vulnerability regarding the people they care most about. They have an uncompromising passion and eventual undying love for their lovers, families, etc.

*Can have face to face discussion with opponent. However try to avoid the anime style of wall to wall taunt of why the said antagonist is doing what they are doing.

*Heroes will not always win, when creating characters we often over this fact. You are not always successful that things you do the first time, neither should your character. Cockiness is always a good way to break a hero’s ego, look at Anakin Skywalker. He stumbled so many times he became Darth Vader, assuming that he was doing the right thing/

After that this leads us to physical qualities of the said hero. A good hero should be at least somewhat physically appealing. I mean who would find the Mole man, an attractive Hero? However, this does not necessarily mean that they have to be handsome or long haired. Most readers want height, dark hair, expressive eyes, and a lean and muscular body, look at Harry Potter. The character overall is a shrimp when the first book come out and then turned into the talk of the town. This is even better expressed in characters like Jack Sparrow, whom has quite a large fan base.

These said “keeper” protagonists will somehow be able live up to the ideals of the Boy Scout code. They have the honor, veracity, vigor, a hint of danger, tenderness beneath the toughness, dependability, astuteness, sex appeal, a sense of humor, zeal, protectiveness, and valor. Chaos’ Scryox from Inverted Fairy Tale is a prime example of this. At first people will find him to a perverted pretty boy, as the plot unfolds we find that he develops and becomes more mature in his relationship to one of the heroines and even to the other characters that he doesn’t get along with.

As for a heroine, it will depend on the audience. Most males will want the standard generic anime girl with a boob size that matches up with their grade levels. However, since we are going beyond the basic level, we need to be more mature with the heroines. Many people ask me why I like to write as heroines. While that is that could be another topic in of itself, I simply find them to be more interesting. In reality, female heroes are really no different from males, minus the fact that they will not always try to fall for the “ideal man.”

I will use my Medea Tenpenny from Inverted Fairy Tale as my example. At first glance, she appears to be the standard bitchy girl with a great form. However, throwing in darker elements, she is in actuality very cunning in the things that she does. Medea has the power to think outside of the box. This being said, a personality is needed for a heroine to be interesting.

Summary: Protagonists are generally always the people you want to root for in a story. Most of the time, they are combined with elements from the main character and hero to make them more complete. They can be either gender but they all have a goal that you want to reach someday. They will not always win their struggles but that’s what their journey is for. More often than that they start off gun ho and then mature into more respectable beings. Hopefully this little article will help you with your idea babies!

Okay, first off, I am a fairly relaxed person. For those of you that talk to me via MSN, you know this. However, there were a few things that really got on my nerves today. There's this one dude that always stands on the corner protesting the Planned Parenthood clinic. Now, I don't really care for the place that much myself, but when I bypassed the jerk on my bike, him and his little team of followers started ranting about how people my age are overly horny and doing this and that. You get the picture. Now, normally I wouldn't really react to this, but they did the same thing during the summer back when I was in high school. It's really attitudes like that I cannot stand. They are basing everything without a shred of evidence and acting like they are morally right for yelling at a timid person like myself. Heh, though last time I almost had to run one of them over with my bike... That was kind of funny. Anyways, this time around, it was a bunch of snowballs. Though there has been enough complaints about them, so hopefully they won't be back any time soon.

Alright, this is another short little post. So the other day, I went to the local otaku/aminu store called the Lost World of Wonders. I know that I fall into the group of lovable losers that go in there all the time; however, I have to say that some things people do are kind of creepy. I mean for example there is always at one person that always likes drooling over plastic video game or anime figures... Not exactly sure what to think of that. I mean lusting over a toy? Who knows?
There is a fine line between liking a character and going to the next level like that...

I think that Nagisa's expression pretty much summons everything up clearly. lol.

By a ‘good villain’ I mean one that makes them memorable, for clichéd and the whole “necessary” evil leaves you with an unmemorable, 2D figure. This is a list of what one should take into account about trying to create a antagonist that isn’t your anime or cartoon super villain:

*Must be easy to relate to. You can’t just have someone or something that wants to blow up the world. They need a unique reason behind their actions and why they do what they do. They have to enjoy what they are doing.

*Is intelligent and can have face to face discussion with the said hero. However try to avoid the anime style of wall to wall taunt of why the said antagonist is doing what they are doing.

*In some sense, will stop to rethink about why his/her plans failed, not go into a blind rage and make mistakes. This is all too many times done in animes and other melodramas.

*Said antagonist is charismatic, cultured, and is eccentric in some way. Only has a subtle aura of menace. In your day to day life, you aren’t going to find a Lex Luther type hiding and plotting in public. They are normal human beings, not clichéd super villains.

*Has violent outburst, but only at key times and when practical.

*Is a quick thinker, and is thusly able to read emotions of others. This way, they can outwit, outplay, and out move a hero when they need to. Because of this the antagonist respects, and is respected by the hero. Thusly, they will win every once and awhile.

After this, it depends on the genre, terrorists make good villains because they help keep you in suspense until they are stopped. The very ideal of “for the greater good for humanity” is what empowers villains. They are doing what they believe is best for their people. In Iwaku’s Legacy, Moridemus is a good example of an ideal villain. He does what he believes is for the best interest of the other characters; however, the protagonists don’t see them as being true and they destroy him because of his ego.

Another memorable villain can be someone that you know in your day to day life, like a neighbor. A perfectly good person can be corrupted by their own twisted sense of what’s right and wrong. Just because some one is “so nice,” doesn’t mean that they are a good person. Good and nice are two separate things.

Betrayal of trust is the most common theme in villainy and it works out very well. Holy men that turn members of their own faith over to the Dictatorial state are a good example. These tend to be emotionally vulnerable people with motives that you can understand and if not some what agree with in the end.

A villain will often have some quirk that makes them interesting, even something that in normal circumstances would be considered endearing. Using one of my own antagonists for example, Rose is a fairly normal character; however, her quirk is that she was left behind by a series of events that have made her demand revenge for something that was not in her control. Another good example would be leaving flowers for a victim at the scene of their death or a letter asking for apology for their behavior. This will make them more human, than over the top.

Finally, it depends on your World View. If you are not highly religious for example, then you might base a villain off of things that violate some dearly held tenant of your faith or the targeted audience’s. Take an overly zealot person, they will hold onto a belief and may even help society in some ways, but their fundamental thought is in violation of fact or normal reasoning. You might want to use a seemingly admirable person who does good works and contributed with society until the acts that lead to their downfall.

In Summary: The opponent of the protagonist should be able to achieve their goals. They should never be pushed over for the protagonist. Wooden dolls don’t make memorable opponents.

Well, this is post a quick filler post for now. I still can't believe that yet another year as disappered around us. Taking a look back, it was an odd year for me, at least 15 new reenacting impressions, various attempts at comics, more toy soldiers, and stories... I keep up hope that next year will prove to be just as interesting for us at Iwaku and the other forums I lurk at. Hopefully starting next month, my new comic Perfect Cherry! will be of some interest. I am going to be keeping the exact plot under wraps until next year. ;)

Well, I watched more of the Strawberry Panic anime. All I can really say about it was that it was cute. If you are looking for epic and thought provoking plotlines, this ain't the show for you. As I mentioned the other day, it was chopped full of the clichéd sterotypes for female characters; thusly, I wasn't really overly impressed. I don't want to give a lot away for people that haven't seen the ending, but I figured it would pretty much end the way that it did... Though, I am still kind of distrubed by some of the lolis on this show... I'm going to hide now.

Yes, I am going to talk about Yuri... No not Yaoi, the 'other version'. As any fan boy or nerd that has obscure sexual fantasies know what the genera is used for. I am often left wondering about some of the plotlines of these shows... I mean take a look at Strawberry Panic, I mean the title is rather stupid sounding. Though, don’t let that distract you from the show.

At the start of the anime, we are left seeing something about teen girls at a three separate border schools. Sure, it's a dream of almost very male to wonder what goes on in such places... Just from firsthand knowledge, via friends, not myself, that close friendships will form between individuals but that doesn't always mean that they’ll break out into Yuri-isms. Yeah, yeah… I shouldn’t get my hopes up for Yuri being realistic.

In all honestly Strawberry Panic is actually a fairly decent anime thus far. Not sure if I'll watch all 26 episodes through, might skip around to a get more of a basic idea. I would be kind of disturbed if a Catholic school system was like this. Heh, I digress.

Anyways, the anime has all of the clichéd female types, the shy girl, perky one, masculine horseback rider (Whom seems to be a knight in shining armor), the overly mature chick, and the ever omnipresent love triangle.

Character development does seem to occur, thusly for being an anime that it is meant to be smut, it actually has a plot. I am glad, that there is not a lot of hardcore sex, which is rare for a thing like this. Of course, the perverted stuff is still there but I don‘t think that I should probably dwell on it too much and make all the otaku reading this get a nose bleed.

Apparently the first edition of the manga is coming out on Dec. 23. If am not distracted by making my own characters, I think that I’ll take time to read it. Generally, I am not that interested in Yuri themes; though with the upcoming short comics that I’m working on, I decided that it will be interesting to see where these types of characters will go.

Thus far, Medea and Aria are the two characters that are currently in the domain of this, while Justin and I might go a wee bit overboard in writing secessions, I highly doubt that I’d do a whole lot of fan service, the characters are actually fairly interesting thus far. Our goal is to break the clichéd and try a new spin on things!

Iwaku Comic....

Okay, for those of you that travel from the forum that I help co-admin called Iwaku, then here's a little treat just for ya'll. Starting up next year, all of the great legends of Iwaku's past will come together in a two part comic mini-series by Paorou Sama and myself. Hopefully, we should be able to retell the history of Iwaku in a new and interesting way. I'm currently about two or three pages into my half and Paorou is a little bit further than me. The old jokes from the Five Stone Star Force thread will be added into a more solid story line.

Well time for another character "Chat." Elizabeth is probably one of my first real interesting female characters. As well, Elizabeth is the character for which the blog is named for. She started off life as a potential villian for Geneva to spare against, that was around five years ago. However, I started to realize that "Westy" would be better off as a character of her own. At first she was going to be a kind of a foil to Adam Armsmith. Then I teamed up with Laura, from there we realized that she should be Rory's sister. We had several short stories involved we them. However, starting this year I wanted a chance to retell the story of "Westy." She now has the name of Elizabeth because it seems more Victorian compared to "Val." Now that she is getting a big role in both Evangeline and Wonderland, I hope to see her character bloom into something grand.

Okay, I will admit that I am not shocked that I am a water element. In my tribal ancestory I am a snake, which is a water spirit and can be a trickster but is generally a wise being. As well, with most of the stories that I write, it is really the water element that gets the most focus. I mean with my most recent stories, Medea, Gracie, and Silea are all water beings. I can't say what my direct interest in water is, but I do feel at home with it.

Well both Laura and I have called quits to the plot and thusly we've decided to deleted the website that was centered around them. The good news is, that although the story is gone, the characters are not. Like with many of my other works, I've decided to bring them back in other forms. Much of the original stories have now evovled into The Inverted Fairy Tale. It should be noted, that though the original concept of IFT belongs to my Asian Buddy Bill, Chaos, RPers on Iwaku, and myself have been spending time to create an original plot that does not center on the first two plots. Anyways, don't worry about the LS characters dying off, instead they are getting a new life in various new sources. Rory and Val will be main characters in Evangeline and Wonderland. :D

Well, here comes a new bizzare storyline that Xnijami and I are working on for a play on all the male comics out there. Character Design: Personality Part One
Personality is without the doubt, is what makes the character what he or she is. As already discussed beforehand, this can be one of the hardest things to pick up on. When first coming up with an idea, we tend to use the people around us. This is a good starting point,; yet, this has some sort comings. This is an example of some of the basic things that one should look for in a personality.
Let’s use this girl as an example:

Short Term Goals:
1. To find a new pair of shoes, since her old ones are worn down.
2. Finish up with her first year of high school, which is going to be ending soon.
3. Eat some pancakes in the morning.
Long Term Goals:
1. Finish reading that stupid novel that she’s been reading for the past three months.
2. Going to study literature and the written arts somewhere in England.
3. One day to write some novel about the future.
General Personality: ‘Gloomy Gus’
Introverted or Extroverted: Introverted.
Quirks (Oddities that catch an interest):
1. Knows a lot about Rocks
2. Novels by Charles Dickens
3. The History of the 1830s
Eccentricities (Oddities that aren’t the norm):
1. Has been known to spend nights up trying to write.
2. Believes that there is a Flying Spaghetti Monster and is very vocal about it.

I dunno,I just turned 20 on the 18th of November. I can't say if it feels weird to know that I've been on this planet for that long or not. Granted in the grand scheme of things I am still a youth, it still feels odd to know that your days of childhood are far gone and now you to face a world that it is not always a nice place. I feel semi useless at this stage. I'm too old to act like an innocent little child, yet I am too young be taken seriously by many older adults. This really is an age of transitions... Either that or I'm thinking to deeply about this and I'm an old man.... Of course, I guess it is best summed up as this:

Character Design: Physical features and Conditions

This is a central competent to any character, without having an idea of what your character looks like they remain a two dimensional creature lacking any life. This is often one of the hardest parts to come up with. If you are like me, I have to take a gander at people that surround me in my everyday life. The intention of this model is that it gives you a basic idea of what to look for in physical conditions. You can always add more or less. The whole idea is create more information than you need to know, to make the character seem more real.

Let’s use this Victorian Gentleman as our model:

Age: Later 50s, early 60s
Height: Roughly 5 foot eight inches
Body Type: Slinky and strong
Conditions: He is fit for a man of his age, due to his wealth he is much healthier than the poor men that work for him.
Eye Color: Medium Azure
Hair Color and Style: It is starting to grey and it is kept short, due to the fact that long “Custer” like hair is not popular amongst the wealthy in this society.
Distinguishing Features:
1. He has a scar over his right eye, from a duel back in his youth.
2. He is rarely seen without a full set of facial hair due to the face that he likes the way it looks.
3. He is starting to form dark bags under his eyes, due to a lack of sleep.

Physical Imperfections:
1. He is bow legged and cannot walk without a cane.
2. Needs glasses to see.
3. Can only stand for several minutes at a time.

Race: European
Ethnic Group: Welsh

As you can see, with a little bit of work you can gain a better understand of your character’s looks. Next time, I will be focusing on a character’s background.

Medea

Every once and awhile, I find a new character that I really love to draw. This is the case with Medea. She is one of my more recent characters to be crafted with the help of Justin. Medea started off of as several of my old female characters, chiefly one named Faye. She started off as a cold jerk and has now moved to become more of a woman with a though exterior but has a gentle heart. This is a basic design for her at this time. I went with a more 'uniform' look for her based off of a military uniform and then messed around with it a bit. More or less, a basic drawing for the time being.

Writer's Strike

Well, I don't tend to watch TV all that often, I'm going to support the writer's strike on Hollywood and Broadway. As most people should know, writing is a difficult task and one's work is rarely credited. More or less, they are just asking for some more respect and money for their hard work. I have to say that it is impressive that they can come up with original plot lines for even the shortest of seasons. The only thing that we need to be sure of is that, they reach an agreement soon. I doubt that many people will be happy about the reruns coming on already.
